Stress and Depression increase risk of death in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease

According to a new study, people with heart disease could be at risk and the risk could be increased when the patients are stressed and depressed. The study was conducted by Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.

According to the study, if a patient of cardiovascular disease is both highly stressed and depressed, then the chances of death within next 2 years increase by 50%. Carmela Alcantara, associate research scientist at Columbia University Medical Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health and lead author of the study, said that there are only few studies that mentioned that stress and depression can have effect on heart disease patients.

Homeopathy not Effective for Treating Any Medical Condition: NHMRC

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) reviewed 225 research papers on homeopathy and reached at a conclusion that homeopathy is not good enough as a treatment for any medical condition.

The top Australian body for medical research has in fact warned: "People who choose homeopathy may put their health at risk if they reject or delay treatments for which there is good evidence for safety and effectiveness".

The NHMRC said that on the basis of the assessment of the reports on the effectiveness of homeopathy, it can say one thing that homeopathy does not offer reliable treatment evidence for health conditions.

George jumped on to the idea of sharing Smiley after realizing so many people are drawn to him and so inspired by him.

Juices and Milk are as Unhealthy as Soda

If you think that juice and milk are better alternatives of soda, you could be wrong. A new study has found that juices, packed milk and sports drinks are as unhealthy as soda. According to the study published in Public Health Nutrition on Tuesday, the drinks are unhealthy because they usually have a lot of sugar that could be harmful.

As per the study, a 20-ounce bottle of soda contains about 65 grams of sugar, while chocolate milk of Nestle can have 58 grams of sugar. Adding to that, Snapple has 46 grams, and vitamin water contains 33 grams of sugar in it.

According to a new study on mice, people who suffer from Alzheimer's disease could benefit from sonic waves, once used in World War II by submarines. Sonic waves could help patients improve their ability to remember and also navigate.

Although there is a long way for the research to reach humans, it opens the door to know more about Alzheimer's therapy. According to authors of the study, the technique used in the study could help treat other diseases, in which abnormal protein accumulates in the brain.

The forebrain of mice, raised to develop Alzheimer's disease, was stimulated with scanning ultrasound for more than six to seven weeks. It was found that it triggered specialized immune cells in the brain to collect and discard excess amyloid.

Palcohol Wins Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau Approval in US

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has granted approval to Palcohol, a form of powdered alcohol in the US. The four flavors of approved Palcohol are likely to hit the stores by the end of this year.

Mark Phillips, the creator of a Phoenix-based company that will come up with the product soon posted a video on YouTube and explained what first sparked the idea.

Phillips said, "When I hike, kayak, backpack or whatever, I like to have a drink when I reach my destination. And carrying liquid alcohol and mixers to make a margarita for instance was totally impractical. So that's why I created Palcohol".

The drink has a very simple recipe with one pack equaled to one shot. You need to pour the contents into 6 ounces of water and stir.
