Apple is working on an online TV service

Consumer electronics company Apple could soon launch an online TV service. The Apple TV set is coming and that rumor has been revived once again with the report that the company is working on an online TV service.

According to Brian White, an analyst with the investment bank of Cantor Fitzgerald, the imminent coming of a TV set from the company has taken on the mythical status of attempting to spot a 'golden-horned unicorn' in the forest.

"We believe a potential streaming TV service and offerings such as HBO NOW pave the path for even bigger ambitions for Apple with a full blown TV that allows the company to completely control the user experience", White wrote in a note to investors.

Honda recalls about 105,000 vehicles

Honda is recalling about 105,000 vehicles because of defect in driver's side air bag inflators, which can explode under too much pressure. Takata-made airbags can explode and could throw metal pieces at passengers. The company recalled some 2008 Pilot, 2004 Civic and 2001 Accord vehicles.

According to the company, all of the vehicles were identified on March 5 and the company selected the vehicles using a process, in which it matched Takata airbag inflater part numbers to individual vehicle identification numbers, or VINs.

It was discovered by Honda that over 88,000 Pilot vehicles should have been included in last year's recall related to Takata.

FTC did not sue Google to avoid a tough case

According to The Wall Street Journal, FTC staff was aware that Google has misused its dominant position in the market and it has used it for anti-competitive decisions. The report mentioned that experts at a federal regulatory agency concluded this in 2012 but still no further inquiry was conducted.

However, Google ignored a big antitrust fight since the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) didn't precede a legal action it on basis of those findings. In 2013, the FTC concluded a two-year investigation into the company's online monopoly power.

Cher Wang is new CEO of HTC

In a management reshuffle, HTC Chairwoman and co-founder Cher Wang has been stepped up as the company's new chief executive. The announcement came on Friday.

The Taiwanese electronics maker, in a press release, said that Cher Wang, Chairman and co-founder of HTC, is replacing Peter Chou. Now, Chou will be getting a "strategic" position in product development as the leader of HTC's Future Development Lab.

According to the company, in the last two years, Chou's main attention was on product development, while he handled over more of his chief executive responsibilities to Wang.

The company said that both the board of directors and executive team has decided that the time has come to formalize and finalize the changes in corporate position.

Absorption of carbon by Amazona rainforest drops by one-third during past 10 years

According to a new research, quantity of carbon absorbed by the Amazon rainforest has decreased by approximately one-third in the past 10 years. It was found in the study of 321 plots in parts of the Amazon that growth of forest had failed to increase in the past few years. It was also found that the net amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the forest had declined from 2.0 billion tonnes a year in the 1990s to 1.4 billion tonnes in the 2000s.

Researchers find oldest and largest crocodile ancestor

On Thursday, scientists announced the discovery of a 9-foot-long crocodilian ancestor that roamed prehistoric North Carolina 231 million years ago.

The discovery of the new species known as Carolina butcher or Carnufex carolinensis was published in a paper in the journal Scientific Reports.

The scientists also announced the species' discovery with a public presentation at the science museum in downtown Raleigh starting at 11 am.

The presentation includes what the creature might have looked like, based on the few bones that were found in the Pekin Formation in Chatham County, North Carolina. Palaeontologists found parts of the crocodile's skull, spine and upper forelimb.
