Islamabad, Sep 06 : Former Pakistani president and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari has claimed that after the 2008 elections, Nawaz Sharif approached him with a proposal to take turns ruling the country.

Zardari said that after 2008 elections that was won by his party, PML-N leadership asked him to take his turn and let them take the next turn, the Express Tribune reports.

The PPP head said that he did not 'extend any favour' at any point of time to the prime minister.

He said that he was following the political ideology of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and late Benazir Bhutto.

New Delhi: HRD Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday asked the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) to empower the people through the Jan Dhan Yojana recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I would ask the JSS as to how you can empower the people through this scheme. If you have any suggestion, please let our officials know. Our officials will also announce new guidelines," she said inaugurating an exhibition on literacy and livelihood here.

The exhibition was organised by National Literacy Mission Authority.
