Mitt Romney Defeats Obama in ESPN’s Annual NCAA Bracket Challenge

Although Mitt Romney might have lost the 2012 Presidential elections to Barack Obama, but he defeated him in ESPN's annual NCAA bracket challenge.

Every year, it is told how to win bracket by betting like a hedge fund manager. And this year's pick came up short, the world's most famous ex-hedge fund manager ended up picking one of the best brackets in the entire country.

After Duke's championship win over Wisconsin, Mitt Romney, who also dabbled in hedge funds while making millions as boss of private equity firm Bain Capital, finished the men's 2015 NCAA Tournament ranked in the 99.9th percentile of ESPN's Tournament Challenge.

Out of total 11.57 million brackets that were submitted, Romney came at 6,326th place, whereas the US president Obama was sitting at 6,996,358 place.

Greenpeace Activists board Arctic-bound Shell Oil Rig

The organization said that, on Monday, six activists along with the environmental group Greenpeace have boarded a Royal Dutch Shell oil rig in the Pacific Ocean bound for the Arctic.

In a statement, the group said that its team would occupy the underside of the Polar Pioneer's main deck and is planning to unfurl a banner with the names of millions of people those are opposed to Arctic drilling. It also added that they would not interfere with the vessel's navigation.

Johno Smith, 32, one of the six to board the Blue Marlin, the ship carrying the rig, said that they are here to highlight that in less than 100 days Shell is going to the Arctic to drill for oil. He added that the actions of Shell have been exploiting the melting ice to increase a man-made disaster.

According to scientists, they have developed an inexpensive method of producing hydrogen fuel from abundantly-available corn stover, the stalks, cobs, and husks.

As per the researchers, the biological method for producing hydrogen fuel greatly decreases the time and money it takes to make the zero-emissions fuel. There is a possibility that this discovery might aid to speed up the widespread arrival of hydrogen-powered cars in a method that is cheap and has very low carbon emissions.

The findings have been reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Percival Zhang, who works at Virginia Tech's Department of Biological Systems Engineering, said that the discovery is an essential step toward a hydrogen economy.

Canada to Provide $243.5 Million towards Thirty Metre Telescope Project

Late Monday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said that Canada will provide up to $243.5 million over a decade for the Thirty Meter Telescope project.

Experts affirmed that by around 2023, the most powerful optical telescope on earth will start exploring the distant reaches of the galaxy and beyond. Once the telescope is made, it will be in an observatory inside a Canadian-built enclosure.

The telescope will be present at the summit of Hawaii's Mauna Kea volcano. The US$1.5 billion telescope is expected to be operational by 2023-2024. The amount committed by Mr. Harper is equivalent to 15 to 20% share in the project.
