Islamabad, June 18 : In an effort to minimize damage caused by floods in the country, Pakistan has made arrangements with India to receive minute-to-minute detailed information about river flows in the north-western parts of the country.

In an inter-provincial meeting of the Federal Flood Commission here, Pakistan Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf, was told by the Indus Waters Commissioner that adequate arrangements have been made for receiving up-to-the-minute flood flow data of Indian rivers crossing over into Pakistan.

Tehran - Protests in favour of opposition leader Mir-Hossein Moussavi and against alleged electoral fraud were scheduled to continue Thursday in Tehran for the sixth consecutive day.

The pro-Moussavi network coordinating the demonstrations said that protestors would first gather in front of the United Nations office and then move to a square in downtown Tehran.

Moussavi also declared a day of mourning for the victims of the demonstrations. Between five and 12 people have reportedly been killed during the protests.

Ignoring its early losses, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex, which commenced the day lower by 187 points, gained 58 points after India’s inflationary figures fell into the negative zone for the first time in over 30 years.

For the week ended June 6, 2009, the annual rate of inflation declined to -1.61% as against 0.13% during the previous week ended May 30, 2009 and 11.66% during the corresponding week of the previous year.

The Sensex, which lost nearly 435 points on Thursday, rebounded to trade higher by 57.84 points at 14,580.68.

Beijing - A Chinese television reality show hosted by former German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn was scheduled to open on Thursday, producers and sponsors said.

Kahn's 10-week show, "I never give up", gives aspiring young Chinese goalkeepers the chance to win a place at the German Football Federation's (DFB) top training academy Berger Feld Schule.

Lahore, June 18 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hoping that its mutual understanding with the Board of Cricket Control in India's former chief, Sharad Pawar, would help it resolve the 2011 World Cup hosting rights issues with the International Cricket Council
(ICC).

Belgrade - Serbian archaeologists have uncovered a seven-millienia old grave in a Neolithic village in the west of the country, the daily Blic reported Thursday.

The grave contains well-preserved skeletons of a child and an adult, buried in a curled position and placed on top of each other, archaeologist Radivoje Arsic said.

"It is unusual because the double grave is within the village - they emptied a mud hut and used it as a burial site," he said.
