Jerusalem - Israel's former ambassador to the United Nations launched an attack on UN atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei Friday, calling him "irresponsible" and his upcoming departure from the job a case of "good riddance."

"The truth is that the best message in the report of Mohamed ElBaradei is that it is apparently his last report," Daniel Gillerman told Israel Radio.

Manila - Seven Muslim separatist rebels were killed in a clash with government troops in a southern Philippine province, an army spokesman said Friday.

The firefight erupted when the guerrillas attacked a temporary base of army troops in Guindulungan town in Maguindano province, 960 kilometres south of Manila, late Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Ponce said about 30 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels opened fire at the soldiers in the temporary base.

Washington, June 19 : A new study has shown that current CO2 levels are higher than the last 2.1 million years.

The study is the latest to rule out a drop in CO2 as the cause for earth's ice ages growing longer and more intense some 850,000 years ago.

But it also confirms many researchers' suspicion that higher carbon dioxide levels coincided with warmer intervals during the study period.
