Brussels - European Union leaders were set to call for a rapid implementation of United Nations sanctions on North Korea on Friday following its nuclear and missile tests, according to a statement prepared for a summit in Brussels.

The heads of the 27 EU member states "insist on a swift and efficient implementation of all the measures" agreed by the UN to punish Pyongyang for its nuclear test, the statement, drawn up for approval by national leaders, said.

Frankfurt - Shares in luxury sports carmaker Porsche slipped Friday after the German-based group said sales in the nine months to the end of April dropped by 15 per cent.

The fall in the company's revenue to 4.64 billion euros (6.47 billion dollars) from 5.46 billion euros in the same period 12 months ago came in the wake of the global recession tightening its grip on the world car business.

The dismissal notices were sent out late Thursday after some 1,200 workers walked out last week in a dispute over 51 redundancies at the Lindsey oil refinery, the third-largest in Britain.
