Geneva - The United Nations' human rights chief said Friday she was concerned about arrests and the reported acts of violence by militia members in Iran following the disputed election result.

"The legal basis of the arrests that have been taking place, especially those of human rights defenders and political activists, is not clear," Navi Pillay said in a statement.

She said some detainees were denied access to lawyers and visitations from family members, while others had disappeared.

Johannesburg - Six days into the Confederations Cup in South Africa, the warm-up tournament for the World Cup next year, the transport of spectators to and from the games is still beset by difficulty, the organizers admitted Friday.

Melbourne, June 19 : In the latest UFO riddle to grip Australia, a flaming object has been spotted crashing into a mountain in central Queensland.

The spectacle was initially treated as a possible plane crash but is now believed to be a meteor or space junk falling to earth.

Police said the Australian Search and Rescue Authority received no mayday or distress calls from aircraft.

The AGL Action Rescue helicopter has been tasked to search the mountainous area at Takilberan Creek northwest of Gin Gin.

Yangon - Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi celebrated her 64th birthday Friday in Yangon's Insein prison where she is being held to stand trial for allegedly breaking her terms of detention.

About 300 members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) opposition party, which she leads, released doves outside the party's headquarters in Yangon, wishing for her quick release.

Zagreb - The Croatian Constitution Court Friday abolished the act that forbids stores to work on Sundays - a move which delighted retailers who say they have lost thousands of dollars since the beginning of the tourist season.

The ban on Sunday work was implemented in January at the request of influential Catholic Church - country's leading confession.

The court abolished the act, saying that there were too many exceptions to the rule, and that workers' rights were not respected as their bosses did not pay them extra.
