Las Vegas Spa involved in Cryotherapy Death Mystery wasn't licensed to perform Cosmetic or other procedures, say authorities

An employee was found frozen and dead inside a liquid nitrogen chamber used for cryotherapy treatments in a Las Vegas spa. On Tuesday, authorities said that the spa didn’t have a license to perform cosmetic or other procedures.

In an interview, Albert Ake, the dead woman's uncle, said that at the time of her discovery, she was rock solid frozen. According to Las Vegas police, the death doesn't seem to be suspicious, and the case has been closed without any criminal investigation.

Blood Sugar Tests advised for overweight US Adults

The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has recommended blood sugar testing for all overweight adults belonging to the age group of 40 years to 70 years even if they don’t have diabetes.

The Task Force said that adults with high blood sugar, but not diabetes, must be sent for intensive behavioral counseling for the promotion of a healthy diet and exercise that could delay or prevent the disease.

The government-backed USPSTF in 2008 endorsed diabetes screening for those individuals, who have high blood pressure, but it failed to find sufficient evidence in the support of the same screening for the people, who are overweight, but show no symptoms of diabetes.

Ancient hyper-carnivores used to keep mega-herbivores in check

Using new computer models that can calculate how much ability an ancient hypercarnivore like cave hyena and the saber-toothed cat had to attack on a prey. From the calculations, researchers have come to know that a cave hyena could have killed a 5-year-old mastodon weighing one ton and if present in group then they could easily have taken down a 9-year-old mastodon weighing 2 ton.

Study's lead researcher Blaire Van Valkenburgh, an evolutionary biologist at the University of California, Los Angeles said that the ancient super-predators used to keep massive herbivores like mammoths, mastodons and giant ground sloths in control.

Study warns Persian Gulf will soon be too hot For Humans to Live There

Global warming could push the sun-baked counties of the Persian Gulf to experience temperatures that are simply very hot for human habitability. Heat and humidity would be at the highest peak and even the healthiest people won't be able to bear it for more than a few hours outdoors.

The journal Nature Climate Change reported that booming counties, such as Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai, could cross the verge if temperatures continue to increase at current rates. After these booming counties comes the Saudi holy city of Mecca.
