US Vice President gives passionate closing remarks at Summit on Climate Change and the road Through Paris

Joe Biden, US Vice President, gave passionate closing remarks at the 'Summit on Climate Change and the road Through Paris' at the White House. The event was part of the on-going preparations for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change to be held in Paris in December.

Everybody knows that the climate change is a vital issue for Americans, and certainly for the White House. So, the present administration, with the sustained efforts done by both the President and Vice President, has taken out time and dedicated energy to make sure that big business understands the point, be part of it, remain aware about the rules of the road going forward, and can know about the impact of their actions on climate change.

Research: Kepler 438b may be uninhabitable because it receives too much radiation

A latest study published by University of Warwick researchers has suggested that one of the most Earth-like exoplanets could be uninhabitable, which means it may not have the capability to support alien life.

Previously in this year, astronomers said that they have found the Kepler 438b, an exoplanet present 470 lightyears away. The 438b, unlike other exoplanets discovered before, is unique and special because scientists said that it belongs to the habitable zone, informally known as Goldilocks Zone. In this zone, the temperature is perfect for liquid water to remain and flow in the surface of a planet.

Threats from Melting Antarctica Not Realistic

We all have been aware of the fact that rising temperature is causing melting down of Antarctica's ice sheets that can cause a huge rise in the sea level. Now a new study has given some new details on the melting of Antarctica's ice sheets.

As per experts, the warming temperature across the world is expected to make the vast kilometers-thick ice sheet grow unstable. Earlier models have shown that this ice sheet's collapse could cause as much as 50cm or even a meter of sea level rise across the world.

According to study, the sea level rise in the worst-case scenario will not be certainly more than 30cm, by the year 2100.

Scientists Observe Birth of Planets for First Time Ever

A team of researchers from the University of Arizona said they have been successful in capturing images of forming planets. They said this is the first time when anything like this has been captured directly.

Researchers in the study published Wednesday in the journal Nature detailed that they are very lucky that they got an opportunity to witness the planet formation. They also hope that their discovery can provide scientists with new insights on how planets actually form and how they are actually in their formative years.

As per experts, so far almost 1,900 planets have been found in orbit around distant stars, but all those stars were grown up or mature stars. These mature planets are detected when they pass in front of the stars they orbit, which make their light dim.

NASA Selects Two Universities to Test Humanoid Robots

American space agency NASA has been trying hard to make its future space mission more successful and to overcome the associated risks. Recently the agency selected two universities that will be carrying out research and tests of humanoid robots for future space missions.

The robot that the agency gave to the universities for research is known as R5 or 'Valkyrie'. It is a six feet tall robot which weighs around 290 pounds. The design of the robot is not entirely new as it is very much alike Valkyrie from the DARPA Robotics Challenge in late 2013.

As per its makers, it has a superhero kind of a look with a glowing logo of NASA on its chest. Valkyrie has been designed for disaster relief missions; therefore, there is high need to test its designs for future space missions.

Rectal Thermometer is best to get most accurate measurement of body’s temperature

A review was carried out on the effectiveness of different types of thermometers. Out of all, a rectal thermometer is the best. Also, methods like measuring body heat on forehead or under the arms are not precise enough.

Head of the review, Dr. Daniel Niven, an intensive care physician with the Peter Lougheed Center in Calgary, said that the finding does not means that one has to have a rectal thermometer with them. As per him, the oral thermometer and ear thermometer are also accurate options.
