Study solves Long-standing mystery of Knuckle Cracking

A new study has revealed that when you crack your knuckles, you actually create a gas bubble between bones of flexed joints. With this, science has reached one step closer to end the long-standing mystery of knuckle cracking.

The study also suggested that a prior speculation, according to which, a flash of light happens approximately 10 milliseconds after the sound is also right. To conduct the study, Dr. Robert Boudin from the University of California analyzed some people in two groups. First group had 30 men and women, who were confessed knuckle crackers.

Coffee giant Starbucks recalled its holiday turkey paninis from about 1,347 locations in the US last week. The sandwiches were pulled after they were found to be tied to E. coli outbreak, according to the company.

Erin Jane Schaeffer, spokeswoman for the chain founded in Seattle, confirmed the recall and said the paninis in doubt have been pulled from areas like Oregon,California and Nevada. She also said that no other products of the company were affected. Seattle-based Starbucks did not receive any report regarding illness due to the contaminated product.

Anti- HIV If Taken as Required can Lessen risk of Getting HIV

A new study has found that if dosage of two anti-HIV pills is taken before sex and two after sex, then it could lessen the risk of developing HIV. The findings of the study were published online by the New England Journal of Medicine in conjunction with World AIDS Day.

A medication by Gilead i.e. Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine. It got approval of the US Food and Drug Administration in 2012 to prevent HIV infections.

It has been advised that a person must be given a dosage of the drug daily. But, the new study suggested that this dosage may or may not be necessary, and the drug can be taken as per required.

According to a Senate Finance Committee investigation report, executives of Gilead Sciences were already aware in 2013 that their plan of increasing the price of a new hepatitis C drug will give rise to public outrage. Despite knowing this fact, the company went forward with the strategy to increase price of the drug, it showed.

Gilead Sciences got federal approval for its drug Sovaldi in late 2013. The company settled the price of $84,000 for a 12-week course of treatment.

According to the internal documents, the company knew that the high price will deliver the right balance: i.e. value to shareholders while also not so high that insurers would ‘hinder patient access to uncomfortable levels’.

No Sign of Cancer Found In Leah, Says Former Cincinnati Bengals Player Devon Still

The former Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still said his daughter Leah showed no new signs of cancer in her recent medical tests. Devon said he could not ask for a better gift this holiday season.

Devon said he got this great news on Tuesday after the results of the new medical tests were revealed. The 4-year-old Leah was diagnosed with a stage 4 neuroblastoma in June.

As per experts, the disease develops from immature nerve cells that are found in several areas of the body. The disease majorly affects kids that are below the age of five, according to the Mayo clinic.

Leah received treatment that included chemotherapy and surgery. After the treatment, Leah was declared in March to be in remission with no signs of cancer.
