Learn from NASA How to Build a Death Star in Real

The best way to build a Death Star is to construct out of an asteroid, according to chief engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The engineer, Brian Muirhead, proposed the method and said that an already-existing asteroid could be the best building block to make the Empire’s ultimate weapon.

Muirhead said an asteroid is capable of providing water, metals and organic compounds needed to build the fictional planet-destroying space station. Currently, Muirhead has been working with NASA on Asteroid Redirect Mission. They are not trying to create a death star, but to land a probe on an asteroid, lift a boulder and put it in orbit around earth’s natural satellite.

Heart-Shaped Region on Pluto Is Covered With Pits

The dwarf planet Pluto has kept on puzzling scientists, although New Horizons keeps on gathering data about the tiny planet but it does not mean that it’s every mystery is unfolded. Recently images sent by the craft shocked scientists when they saw that the heart-shaped region on Pluto is covered with pits.

According to NASA, the craft took these images on July 14 but it too long for them to receive them. The pits on Tombaugh Regio are each hundreds of yards across and 10 or more yards deep.

The pits appear to be large in number and well aligned with each other. Scientists think that the pits might have been formed from ice fracturing and evaporating relatively recently.

Reanalysis of Fossils Leads to Discovery of Hualianceratops Wucaiwanensis

Researchers after reanalyzing skull fossils found in 2002 found that the 160 million-year-old remains belonged to a previously unknown plant-eating dinosaur named Hualianceratops wucaiwanensis.

Scientists found that remains which they were carrying out digging in China 2002, and thought that it belongs to a small dinosaur. But now reanalysis of the fossils unveiled the real truth associated with the fossils.

Dr. Catherine Forster, a paleontologist at George Washington University and a co-author of the research, said, “It was probably about the size of a spaniel dog, with a relatively large head, and walked on its hind legs. Based on comparisons with closely related species, it probably had a modest size tail, although this was not preserved with the specimen”.

Thin Haze in Occator Crater on Ceres Can Be an Indicator of Presence of Frozen Water

Ceres and its bright spots have baffled scientists since they were first discovered, now researchers through two new studies have found some news details about these bright spots that are found all over the dwarf planet’s surface.

In one of the study scientists claim that the bright spots on the surface of Ceres is a kind of salt. The second study shows the detection of ammonia-rich-clays on Ceres.

According to researchers when the sun shines into the Occator crater on the surface of the dwarf planet Ceres, a thin haze appears above its brightest spot.

Cygnus Arrives at ISS Carrying Christmas Deliveries

After delay in its launch date, Cygnus was successful launched to delivery necessary supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). The cargo ship carrying supplies and Christmas presents docked at the ISS on December 9.

The success of this commercial flight launch marks America’s return to resume resupply mission to orbit. The Orbital ATK Cygnus CRS-4 resupply vessel arrived in the vicinity of space station at around 5:30 am EST on December 9.

The vessel after slowly moving close into the station was grabbed by NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren using he space stations 57.7 foot long robotic arm, Canadarm2, at 6:19 am EST.

NASA Releases New Composite Image of Saturn’s Moon Titan

American space agency NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has sent back home some amazing photos of Saturn’s largest moon titan. The images instead of the hazy atmosphere show Titan’s surface clearly.

The composite image shows the area of Titan that faces towards Saturn. It also shows the dark, dune-filled regions of Fensal to the north and Aztlan to the south, which together form the shape of a sideways letter H.

According to experts, the largest moon of Saturn is tidal locked, which means that the same side of the moon always faces towards Saturn. It is the same way as the moon is tidal locked to earth.
