Astronomers were surprised to notice that a quite quasar named SDSS J1011+5442 changed dramatically over the last 12 years. First noticed in 2003, quasar SDSS J1011+5442 has possibly eaten out its own fill in the recent years. The research team from University of Washington used the spectrum measurements of the quasar to calculate various factors. The reading for year 2015 suggests that the hydrogen-alpha emission declined by a factor of 50.

The black hole is still there but the research team feels that it has swallowed the gas in its vicinity. As a black hole swallows superheated gas in its surroundings, it emits massive amounts of light and radio waves. Using the spectrum analysis of the black hole, the research team was able to ascertain the properties of gas being swallowed by it.

The Oregon Zoo in Portland has witnessed an event, where seven of its workers have been detected with tuberculosis that has been contracted from the three elephants that have been at the zoo since 2013, according to a report issued by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The employees, who have been found infected with this dormant type of respiratory disease, did not show any symptoms and are not contagious.

The CDC was instructed by a U.S. judge to release documents, associated with the tuberculosis detected in the elephants, to animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The report issued by the CDC comes two days after these instructions were given.

A number of users have issued a lawsuit against Fitbit, saying that the health tracking devices of the company can’t be trusted for monitoring heart rates.

CNET reported that the plaintiffs have filed a class-action lawsuit in California saying that the Fitbit Charge HR and Surge models have consistently underestimated their heart rates at the time of workouts.

The lawsuit claimed, “Plaintiffs and many consumers like them have experienced -- and testing confirms -- that the PurePulse Trackers consistently mis-record heart rates by a very significant margin, particularly during exercise”.

Normal operations have resumed in Mount Sinai West Hospital in Manhattan, which were halted after a man jumped onto an oxygen tank, supplying the facility on Friday morning, rupturing it. According to police, the incident took place around 2 am at the facility present at 1000 10th Avenue.

The 31-year-old was declared dead on the sight. Police said that the deceased jumped from an unidentified height from an adjacent building present behind the hospital.

The hospital's emergency room stopped functioning due to the disruption and the incoming patients were temporarily sent to other hospitals.
