One of the twin conjoined boys was brought home after almost a year. These two boys conjoined along the abdomen and sharing a small intestine and fused livers were born to Michelle Brantley on 12th December, 2014. Since then, they had been in hospital care at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care and the Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Both Michelle Brantley and Bryan Mirabal are happy parents now to see at least their one son at home.

Two Caltech astronomers, Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin, have observed some strange behavior in the outer solar system, which according to them has been caused by an unseen world orbiting about 500 times farther from the Sun than Earth does.

The proof included an odd alignment of some so-called Kuiper Belt objects (KBOs), ice-bound orbs that are Pluto’s cousins. The huge hailstones are scattered across the dim and far away areas of our solar system. Their nearly a decade old discovery resulted into loss of membership in the pantheon of planets for Pluto.

Apparently roughly a dozen of the Kuiper Belt objects have similarly aligned orbits, both in direction and in tilt to the ecliptic plane.

A latest study suggested that the human brain can hold 10 times more memories than believed earlier. The key to its amazing ability is present in synapses, the neural links accountable for memory storage.

The Salk Institute researchers discovered that each synapse can hold nearly 4.7 bits of information, which means that the human brain has a capacity of one petabyte, or 1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes. It is equal to roughly 20 million four-drawer filing cabinets packed with text.

The US military are trying their hand on making an implantable chip that may transform soldiers into cyborgs by linking their brains directly to computers. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has developed the brain-machine interface, claiming that the neural connection is going to open the channel between modern electronics and the human brain.

This is not the first time ever that DARPA researchers have tried to create a brain-machine interface, but earlier versions have had restricted functionality. The new Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) research program of the agency is targeting to increase brain neuron interaction from tens of thousands to millions at once.

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly recently posted a photo of the bright orange zinnias that blossomed on board the International Space Station (ISS). But Kelly made a mistake by claiming that it was the first ever flower to grow in space.

Around four years back, astronaut Don Pettit had grown a few different sorts of plants on board ISS. That experiment was labeled as a “personal biology experiment” by the American space agency.

As there was a lack of sophisticated growth chamber at the time, Pettit had to use plastic bags as pots to grow plants. Pettit successfully grew zucchini and broccoli sprouts as well as cultivated a sunflower to blossom.

The journal Astrobiology has carried a new research wherein The Australian National University (ANU) astronomers said that young habitable planets can become unstable very quickly. The planets that was once used to be a life-giving oasis transforms into a hellish hothouse or frozen wasteland at a very fast pace.

Lead author of the paper, Aditya Chopra, said, “The universe is probably filled with habitable planets, so many scientists think it should be teeming with aliens. Early life is fragile, so we believe it rarely evolves quickly enough to survive. Most early planetary environments are unstable”.

He said that for the production of a habitable planet, life forms have to regulate greenhouse gases like water and carbon dioxide for keeping surface temperatures stable.
