Globular clusters, which are glittering and dense swarms of stars in the universe, were long considered by astronomers as the ones having formed their millions of stars in bulk around the same time. And thus, it was thought as if each cluster's stars had very similar age. But this notion has been decried by recent discoveries of young stars in old globular clusters.

Researchers, in a new study published in the January 28 issue of the journal Nature, have claimed that instead of bearing all their stars at once, globular clusters can have second or even third sets of thousands of sibling stars.

A team of astronomers in the UK, U.S. and Australia has revealed that the planet, which they thought to be lonely till now, is not actually lonely. The planet, known as 2MASS J2126, is actually in the largest ever found orbit around its parent star that is located 1 trillion kilometers away from it. The planet’s orbit is 7,000 times wider than the orbit of Earth around the sun and will take nearly 900,000 years to complete its one orbit. The ‘Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society’ published the outcomes of the team.

"This is the widest planet system found so far and both the members of it have been known for eight years, but nobody had made the link between the objects before”, said the lead author of the study, Dr. Niall Deacon of the University of Hertfordshire.

A team led by Zilong Qiu at the Institute of Neuroscience in Shanghai has created autistic monkeys in an effort to find a cure for the devastating disorder, which has not been a much understood problem. The ‘transgenic’ macaques, which were engineered with a human autism gene, showed similar symptoms to that of a human autistic. They made recurring motions, displayed anxiety as well as poor social interaction.

Peach State Health Plan’s parent company Centene Corp. has launched a widespread internal investigation at its offices to search its six missing hard drives, which supposedly consists of sensitive personal data associated with 950,000 people. These people obtained laboratory services from 2009 to 2015. The data in the hard disks comprise name, address and date of birth, along with social security number, member ID number and information relating to health.

Trevor Sullivan, a 15 years old child living in Michigan, underwent a heart transplant within 24 hours of knowing that he has received a donor. The life-saving surgery went on for hours, but the outcome left everyone overwhelmed, particularly Trevor, who did not know if he would ever open his eyes again when he went into the surgery room. The transplant was carried out on November 13, 2015 and when he first woke up after surgery, his father captured those moments on a video.

Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits were sent to around 700,000 people, who participated in the Kaiser Permanente Northern and Southern California health plans, in 2007 and 2008.

According to Douglas A. Corley, MD, PhD, of the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research, in Oakland, and colleagues, these participants (between 50-70 years of age) had not undergone colonoscopy in last 10 years, a sigmoidoscopy in last five years or a fecal blood test during the last year.
