Hubble captures blue bubble around Wolf–Rayet star called WR 31a

After 25 years in use, the Hubble Space Telescope has been doing amazing work and it has provided many amazing images to astronomers. It has always come up with stunning imagery almost everywhere it trained its focus. The most recent capture of Hubble is a blue bubble surrounding a Wolf–Rayet star called WR 31a, presently 30,000 light years away.

For a ‘broken’ telescope, the Hubble still provides the world beautiful imagery almost every week. NASA carried out all the servicing on the telescope when there was a space shuttle program, it’s easy skip from min that the European Space Agency and NASA are partners in the telescope and this was the reason that the ESA reported on the image, though on the NASA website.

Elon Musk's SpaceX to Try Fourth Launch Attempt on Tuesday

After three unsuccessful launch attempts, tech magnate Elon Musk’s SpaceX confirmed that it will target its fourth attempt to launch a satellite, SES-9, into space from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Tuesday. An 11-minute launch window has been scheduled to be opened at 6:35 pm and close at 8:05 pm.

The launch window for the fourth launch attempt is an earlier window compared to the previous failed attempts on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. SpaceX believes the change in timing may give it a better chance to escape upper-level winds.

Humans tend to trust Robots even during emergencies, says Study

Trusting robots may not be that easy during routine situations, but a new study presented at the 2016 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction has found that humans tend to trust, and even follow, robots if they are stuck in an emergency situation.

Conducted by researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology, the study had 30 participants. A majority of them followed an “emergency robot”, which bailed out humans during a simulated fire without even exactly following the clearly marked exit signs.

Researchers unearth Oldest and Most Detailed Nervous System Fossil from Southern China

Researchers have unearthed fossil of a prehistoric animal from China whose nerves are still visible after more than 500 million years. The crustacean-like animal’s fossilized central nervous system is among the most ancient and detailed system yet discovered, said the researchers.

The fossil is so well preserved that researchers can easily study how nervous system of ancient animals evolved over about 520 million years. The discovery has been published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Nature Inspires Development of Ultra-Thin Graphene Sheets

Scientists have developed something that will most likely become instrumental in designing future technologies like 'smart wallpaper' and ‘internet-of-things’ applications. A new ultra-thin, patterned graphene sheet has been created by the scientists that will be capable of producing power from waste light or heat.

Graphene is a form of carbon, with a thickness of only one atom. It is an extremely strong and electronically excellent conducting material. However, it is not capable of being used in optical applications due to its low light absorption capacity of 2.3%.
