A latest analysis has estimated that the US premature births associated with air pollution cost over $4 billion annually in medical care and lost economic opportunity. Researchers examined air quality data and birth records and found that nearly 16,000 babies take premature birth partially because of air pollution.

The researchers calculated that yearly costs linked to these preemies include roughly $3.6 billion in lost wages and productivity because of physical and mental deficits linked to early arrivals and $760 million for extensive hospitalizations and use of medications for a long time.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the World Health Organization said that the Ebola epidemic that took thousands of lives in West Africa is not an international public health emergency any more.

In a news briefing, Dr. Margaret Chan, WHO director general, said that she has accepted the recommendation of an emergency committee, which has reached at a conclusion that West African countries could contain the tiny number of new cases that kept on arising, and that the chances of an international spread are less.

Dr. Chan has told the countries that had prohibited interaction with the three nations to remove any ban on travel and trade with immediate effect.

Astronomers investigating data and images beamed back by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft have found that dwarf planet Pluto once have had flowing lakes of nitrogen. The team concluded the new findings after studying details of body of nitrogen on the dwarf planet seen in a new picture.

New Horizons team announced that Pluto may once have harbored lakes of nitrogen, not water, billions of years ago when its surface conditions were different from today. The distant world’s thicker atmosphere raised the temperature and created an environment where liquid nitrogen flowed on the surface, the team added.

Ohio State University researchers have discovered a particular facial expression that transcends language barriers. They have named the universal expression the ‘not face’ because it punctuates negative sentiments in a way similar to the word ‘not’.

The combination of a furrowed brow, pressed lips, and a raised chin make the ‘not face’. They found that such an expression is given by people when they express a negation like ‘I do not agree’.

On March 17, amateur astronomer John McKeon was looking at the king of planets using telescope from Swords, Ireland, when he recorded the amazing time-lapse footage of something hitting Jupiter.

McKeon was capturing the transit of Jupiter's moons Io and Ganymede through an 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and his ASI120mm camera when something hit the planet.

In a YouTube video description, McKeon wrote, “The original purpose of the imaging session was to get this time-lapse, with a happy coincidence of the impact in the second, last capture of the night”.
