Panaji (Goa) [India], Oct. 16 : Russian defence manufacturer ROSTEC has said the production of K226T helicopters would mark a major step in the long-time cooperation and relationship between India and Russia.

Addressing media here, ROSTEC CEO Sergey Chemezov said Russia since the 1990's has contributed significantly to India in terms of defence cooperation, especially in the production of Sukhoi military planes.

"India has been our long time friend and our long time partner. We have been involved in multiple important projects for them for a very long time. Our joint productions have gone quite well, most notably in the 1990's we had the licensed production of the Sukhoi military planes in India," he said.

Washington D.C. [US], Oct. 15 : A new research has found that early dietary nutrition heavy in soy protein isolate can protect against serious bone loss during adulthood.

This also is the first time that scientists have used an animal model to show concrete evidence of a protective effect of an early-life soy protein isolate diet on adult bone loss.

Leas researcher Jin Ran said, "Appropriate early-life nutrition can optimize peak bone mass. Consumption of soy foods has a variety of health benefits, including amelioration of bone loss during adulthood."

To make their discovery, the team used a very young female rat model.

New Delhi [India], Oct 15 : Indian budget carrier SpiceJet has finally sealed the deal for over 100 aircrafts valued at around USD 12 billion (over Rs 80,000 crore) by next month.

Speaking to reporters at the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YLFO) SpiceJet's chairman and managing director Ajay Singh said, "We are going to finalize the deal in a month or so."

The low-cost carrier would also buy five aircrafts from Boeing and lease three aircraft from Bombardier this fiscal to increase daily flights and enter into newer international destinations.

"We have significant financial resources to fund the purchase of the aircrafts as we have been profitable for the past few quarters and also have significant ability to use the (credit) limits from banks," added Singh.

Washington D.C. [US], Oct. 15 : A new study at Oregon State University suggests that if you are unable to achieve the target of taking 10,000 steps daily then go for smaller number but with greater intensity as it can prove to be equally beneficial for your health.

It's especially helpful if 3,000 of the steps come at a brisk pace and limiting sedentary time also plays a role in healthy readings for cholesterol and other risk factors.

Lead author of the study John Schuna said, "Some physical activity is better than none, and typically more is better than less."

New Delhi [India], Oct 15 : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its weekly statistical supplement released on Friday noted that Indian banks' loans rose 10.4 percent in two weeks to September 30 from a year earlier.

The report also stated that deposits rose 11.3 percent. Outstanding loans rose 2.11 trillion rupees (USD31.56 billion) to 75.21 trillion rupees in the two weeks to September 30.

Non-food credit rose 2.21 trillion rupees to 74.35 trillion rupees, while food credit fell 105.30 billion rupees to 854.60 billion rupees. Bank deposits rose 3.52 trillion rupees to 101.43 trillion rupees in the two weeks to September 30.
