New Jersey [United States], Oct. 16 : Asserting that he was a 'big fan' of India, Republican candidate Donald Trump played a major diplomatic card saying that if elected as President, the Indian and Hindu community would have a true friend at the White House.

Addressing a charity event organised by the Republican Hindu Coalition, Trump branded India as a key strategic ally and made a sweeping declaration that India and the U.S. would become 'best friends' with a phenomenal future, if he comes to power.

New Delhi, Oct. 16 : The Pakistan Army elite has sounded the warning bell for the beleaguered Nawaz Sharif government. At the Corps Commanders meeting on 14th October, the animosity towards the Prime Minister and his team was evident.

However, they did not clarify why a false and fabricated story could endanger national security.

New Delhi, Oct.16 : Congress party leader Sandeep Dikshit has said Russia plays an important strategic role insofar as India is concerned and hoped that it would continue to do so in the future as well.

"We have a very old relation with Russia. Earlier also we have bought aircrafts from them and it this should continue whenever our forces require them.'' Dikshit told ANI.

"When the whole world refused to sell their weapons to India, it was Russia who came forward. And whenever the Indian armed forces needed arms and equipment, it was Russia who fulfilled our demands. Hence, we should continue engage with them," he added.

Panaji (Goa) [India], Oct. 16 : The Eighth BRICS Summit that kicked off with an informal dinner of leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in Goa yesterday; would resume on Sunday, where the leaders will look at global economy, political situation and the challenge posed by terror outfits.

As many as 115 events have been planned for the summit, the theme of which is 'BRICS - Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions'. The focus is on giving a fillip to people-to-people contact.

The events include two parliamentary meetings, 15 ministerial-level meetings, 56 senior officials' meeting of working groups and expert groups, 27 workshops, three track-two events and five events along business pillars.

Ahmedabad {Gujarat} [India], Oct. 16 : Amid the ongoing Patidar agitation in Gujarat, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the families of deceased Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) pro-reservationists Girish and Siddharth and asked the Gujarat government to severely punish the politician who gave shooting orders to the police.

The two died in police firing during a massive rally in Ahmedabad in August last year.
