RBI cover sought in by bankers for CBI probe into 2G scam

RBIThe banks have now interfered into the 2G scam, and have commented that the CBI should go on and do proper investigation of the scam and give a proper estimate of the loss incurred to the government as it will be causing disturbances in their functionality if not properly investigated.

The lobby of the bankers, Indian Banks' Association, headed by State Bank of India Chairman Om Prakash Bhatt seeks the intermediation of RBI in the case and inquiry. The banks have warned that any loose ends in the probe will hurt the economic growth as the banks will run away from funding any big projects.

Poor earnings for Infosys

InfosysThe markets today were expecting a lot from the results of the IT major Infosys Technologies. Infosys, India's leading IT firm has posted its results, which have rather been very lower than expected. The quarter ended December results were disappointing for Infosys.

The poor results reflected on the stock price as well, as it was trading 3 percent lower. The profit after tax (PAT) however rose to Rs. 1,780 crore from Rs. 1,737 crore in last quarter which meant a growth of 2.47 per cent over the last quarter. This quarter the revenue figures were Rs. 6,947 crore, as compared to last quarter's figures of Rs. 7,106 crore.

Nano to launch diesel version by September

Tata NanoLabeled as the world's cheapest car, Tata Nano is all set to launch its diesel version by September this year. The Nano sales had been affected adversely recently due to reasons, like increase in price and safety concerns. The brand has also been hit as some of the cars caught fire.

However, the brand Nano has again managed to catch up a bit by providing extended warranty on the car. Tata Nano will now soon be rolling out the diesel version of the car, in August or September and will be in all probability a 600-700 cc engine. The new Nano will not only prove to be more economical on the running costs but will also be safer.
