14th phase of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Programme in Hyderabad district on 21 DecemberThe first round of the 14th phase of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Programme in Hyderabad district is scheduled on Dec 21 whereas the second round has been fixed for February 1. The aim of this programme is to administer polio drops to 6.75 lakh infants up to the age of 5 years.

12,800 volunteers through 3200 booths will administer polio drops to young ones. 1001 slums (792 notified and 209 unnotified) have been identified as high risk areas.

62 mobile teams will cover infants at construction sites and temporary settlements, in markets, temples, gurudwaras, mosques, wedding halls and parks like Lumbini, NTR Gardens and the Zoo.

Railway stations, bus-stations and the airport will have round-the-clock booths. House-to-house visits by teams between December 22 and 24 will cover the infants who missed the polio drops on Dec 21.
