Tata Motors To Close Down Pune Plant For 3 Days In DecTata Motors commercial vehicles plant at Pune shall be shut down for 3 days again this month, owing to poor demand in the market. Demand for commercial vehicles has been severely hit by lack of vehicle financing, rising interest rates and higher input costs.

According to Sujeet Patil, leader, Tata Motors Employees Union, it was likely that the commercial vehicles plant would go in for block closure for another three days towards the end of December.

Tata Motors spokesperson said, "The company's commercial vehicle plant is going in for a block closure on December 5, 6 and 7 but the decision for the block closure on December 25, 26, 27 is yet to be taken. The car plant would continue to function normally."

The company's CV sales in the domestic market fell as much as 40% in November at 16,229 units against 26,895 units in the same month last year.

The company has been resorting to block closures at its commercial vehicle plants across the country in the past few months. The Lucknow plant was closed from November 10 to 15, the Jamshedpur plant from November 6 to 8 and then again from November 25 to 29.
