In order to promote safe sex drive, the UP State AIDS Control Society has decided to install nearly 250 condom vending machines in the city at key locations.

While giving this information at a press conference, SP Goyal, Project Director said, "It has been seen that despite all the awareness, people still hesitate in asking for condoms from the medical stores. The result is that they take the risk, which is not good. Condom vending machine would be a good zero-embarrassment option.”

The points identified for the installation of the condom vending machines will include malls, cinema halls, market places, hospitals among others.

UPSACS has also decided to install around 350 condom vending machines in Kanpur also.

In another move, UPSACS will organize various programmes regarding the awareness of AIDS in the first week of December. The programme will include issues related to the growing up process, myths and misconceptions about sexuality, adolscent reproductive and sexual health concerns, physical and mental health, HIV and AIDS and skills to face life's challenges. Apart from this, the authorities will also introduce education programme in schools and colleges from November 28.

It must be recalled that December 1 is observed as AIDS awareness day across the globe.
