Chip maker Intel has made announcement about the launching of its new family of Core i7 processors in the Indian market.

Intel made this announcement during a press event held in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Calling them the ‘most-advanced processors’ achieved with 45 nanometre silicon technology, Intel’s first quad-core solution for the desktop PC codenamed ‘Nehalem’, the i7 processors will enhance performance and increase data output.

Mr. Prakash Bagri, Director – Marketing, Intel South Asia, commented, “Intel has delivered the fastest desktop processors on Earth to the most demanding users on Earth, the ones who are using their PCs for video, gaming and music.”

“When you couple what is Intel’s biggest leap in chip design with other incredible innovations like Intel’s solid state drives, the Core i7 processor has redefined the computer of tomorrow,” Mr. Bagri added.

The Intel Core i7 league of microprocessors include 3.2GHz Core i7 965 Extreme Edition, 2.93GHz Core i7 940 (performance model), and 2.66GHz Core i7 920 (budget model). The processors incorporate the Hyper-Threading Technology permitting different computing threads to run simultaneously.

Moreover, the new processors feature 8MB level cache and three channels of DDR3 1066 memory. The processors also have on-chip memory controllers and new LGA1366 sockets.

The Turbo Boost Technology improves performance, thanks to the power control and new power gate transistors. The new i7 Processors perform computing at 40% faster speed with low power consumption.

The 3.20 GHz Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition, 2.93 Intel Core i7-940 and Intel Core i7-920 are priced at $999 (approx Rs 49,470), $562 (approx Rs 27,830) and $284 (approx Rs 14,063) respectively.

The Intel Core i7 processors are available through various computer manufacturers online, retail stores and boxed retail product through channel online sales.
