Benazir asks Nawaz for seat to seat adjustment
Islamabad, Dec 10: PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has telephonically extended an offer to the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for a seat to seat adjustment in Sindh and in other parts of the country.
She said that the PML-N and the PPP were two major parties in the country, which could block President Pervez Musharraf, the PML-Q and its allies by contesting the elections.
The Online quoted well-placed sources as confirming the telephonic contact between Sharif and Bhutto, and added that both leaders would hold a meeting on Benazir’s return from Dubai.
The PPP is ready to sign a written agreement with the APDM that it would side with the APDM to block Musharraf if he tries to get his November 3 steps approved by Parliament, she remarked.
Sources said that Sharif had not given any clear assurance to Bhutto in this regard.
Sharif has said that he would talk to other APDM leaders on this issue.
Both leaders also exchanged views on matters relating to the election boycott and prevailing political situation in Pakistan.
Bhutto urged Sharif to convince the APDM to participate in the elections, as the PPP is not in favour of a boycott.
Bhutto also said that the reinstatement of judges should be deferred till January 9.
When the elections are held and the government does not accept the charter of demands then a forceful movement would be launched, she said. (ANI)
