Advani''s initiative to save Tamils in Lanka
New Delhi, Oct 23 : BJP''s prime ministerial candidate and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, LK Advani, has initiated Track-II diplomacy with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajpaksa to save the lives of ethnic Tamils living in the island country.
Advani wants Tamils to be safe in Sri Lanka and also wants Rajpaksa to be pragmatic and fully understand Indian concerns over the issue, politicsparty. com reported.
NN Jha, former Indian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, who is close to BJP leadership and works on foreign policy issues, is in Sri Lanka on Rajpaksa''s initiative to participate in the deliberations of Indo-Sri Lanka forum.
Jha''s visit can be seen as BJP''s Track-II diplomacy to save the lives of Tamil without affecting the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.
Jha met the Sri Lankan President in the morning and discussed entire gamut of Indo-Sri Lanka relations.
The website reported that Jha might suggest plan of actions satisfactory to strategic interests if India- Sri Lanka, ensuring safety and welfare of Tamils in the island nation. (ANI)
