Danish soldier killed in Afghanistan

Copenhagen  - One Danish soldier was killed and three others injured Friday in Afghanistan when their armoured vehicle struck a landmine or homemade explosive device, the Danish military high command in Copenhagen said.

The three injured soldiers were taken to a field hospital and reported to have sustained minor injuries.

The explosion occurred north of the Danish-manned base of Attal in southern Helmand province.

Earlier this week two other Danish soldiers were injured when their armoured vehicle was hit by a grenade.

About 700 Danish soldiers are deployed in Afghanistan with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). (dpa)
