Divisional Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba killed in Handwara
Srinagar, June 20 : A self-styled divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit was killed in a joint operation by Handwara Police, Srinagar Police and 32 Rashtriya Rifles at Khaipora in Handwara.
Following specific information about the presence of the militants in the house of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Lone, resident of Khaipora Qaziabad, Handwara Police, Srinagar Police and 32 Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation.
When the joint party approached the house the militant opened indiscriminate fire.
The fire was returned and in the ensuing encounter the LeT militant namely Mehboob Ahmad Afraidi alias Jugnu alias Faisal, resident of Check 879 Anjum Farmali, Pakistan was gunned down.
The commander was functioning as district commander of LeT for Sopore.
One AK rifle, three magazines and one grenade were also recovered from the site of encounter.
There was no damage to any property or collateral damage. (ANI)
