Four British soldiers killed by mine in Afghanistan

Kabul  - Four British soldiers were killed and two others wounded a landmine in Afghanistan, officials said Wednesday.

One Intelligence Corps soldier and three other soldiers died when their vehicle was blown up in a roadside explosion in Lashkargah, the provincial capital of Helmand province, the British defence ministry said in a statement.

The NATO alliance in Kabul also confirmed the deaths of its four soldiers and injuries of two more in a statement.

The incident raised to 104 the number of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the ouster of Taliban regime in late 2001. About 70 international soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year, most by roadside explosives. (dpa)
