Mukherjee to visit China

Pranab MukherjeeNew Delhi, May 29 : External Affairs Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will undertake an official visit to China from June 4 to 7 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.

The visit will be the first high-level political exchange between the two countries after Prime Minister's visit to China from January 13 to 15 this year.

Jaswant Singh was the last Indian Foreign Minister to visit China on a bilateral visit from March 29 to April 2, 2002.

Mukherjee will visit Guangzhou and Beijing.

In Beijing, he will have discussions with Jiechi on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest. He will also call on Premier Wen Jiabao and will inaugurate the new Consulate General of India in Guangzhou. (ANI)
