WhatsApp's new 'status' feature goes live

New Delhi [India], Feb. 24 : WhatsApp's on Friday rolled out its new feature 'Status' live across Android, iOS and Windows software wherein the users can upload pictures and videos for their contacts to see, instead of regular text status message.

On the occasion of its eighth birthday today, WhatsApp made live its new OTA update where users can send photos, videos and GIFs through Status to share special moments throughout their day with friends and family.

The makers of this instant messaging service have released the main features of this update, as follows:

- Users have the liberty to monitor who can see their Status update. In WhatsApp's privacy settings, you have the option to choose the people who will receive your update. You can select from the options: "my contacts," "contacts except..." and "only share with..."

-Users can see viewers of their update by tapping the eye icon at the bottom of any Status update to view a list of contacts who have seen the update.

-When you view someone's Status update, there is a reply button, so you can comment on any photo, video, or GIF. Once you tap reply, your message will be sent in a WhatsApp chat with a thumbnail of the Status update.

Earlier in February, WhatsApp introduced a two-step verification feature, said to add more security to a user's account. In order to enable this new feature, users can log into the settings option and look for the 'Two-step verification' category, which is available under the 'Account' setting.

Through this, the user can enable the new feature, which will be accessible across Android, Windows and iOS software. (ANI)
