Pakistan raises Kashmir issue with European Union
New York [United States] Sept. 21 : Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry yesterday raised country's "serious concerns" over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with European Union Secretary General for External Affairs Helga Schmid during their meeting on the sidelines of the 71st UNGA session in New York.
Chaudhry briefed his EU counterpart about alleged "human rights violations" committed by India against Kashmiris.
The European Union noted Pakistan's concerns and inquired about the current state of bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.
According to sources, India is set to raise the Uri attack - in which 18 Army soldiers were killed - at the 71st UNGA session and highlight Pakistan's alleged involvement in the deadly terror strike.
According to sources, India will raise the matter in the U.N. General Assembly and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will strongly emphasise on Pakistan's involvement in her speech on September 26. (ANI)
