Ohio Mother Gives Powerful Message Warning about Danger of Addiction
A mother recently posted a photo of herself and her kids standing beside her husband’s open coffin smiling in an effort to warn people about the danger of addiction. Eva Holland posted the picture on Facebook and wrote that her husband Mike Settles died from a heroin overdose.
Eva of Cincinnati posted with her family's final photo, showing 26-year-old Mike Settles lying lifeless beside them. Along with her post, she wrote: “I'm sure this photo makes a lot of people uncomfortable it may even piss a few people off but the main reason I took it was to show the reality of addiction”.
She said the hard truth is that heroin kills. One thinks it will never happen to him or her, and Mike thought the same, she added.
Holland, who had been with Settles for 11 years, also wrote that if one doesn’t choose recovery, with the passing days you will also have the same end.
She explained her husband turned to heroin after becoming addicted to pain pills. He entered rehab late last year and came out "a brand new man" just in time for Christmas, she recalled.
Eva's post has been shared nearly 2,000 times on Facebook and has received around 100 comments.
Khori Smith wrote in a comment that may people remain silent on addiction's penalty. She said she pray that this post wakes up and inspires someone to get free.
Another person, Brittany Whiteford, wrote that photo left her in tears. Whiteford said she feels sorry for her and hope that people will start opening their eyes to this terrible addiction.
