A man’s death that happened last year has been blamed on marijuana-infused edibles. Owing to it, government health experts have warned people about these edibles like weed brownies and other snacks.

On Friday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said these edibles can prove dangerous. Last March, a 19-year-old man jumped from the fourth-floor balcony of a Denver hotel after being high on the pot and died.

It is said that Levy Thamba had marijuana cookie, which he has purchased from a licensed and legal pot shop in Colorado. It was advised that the cookie should be eaten in small portions, but Thamba had it complete.

After having the cookie, Thamba started behaving strangely. As per Denver coroner’s report, Thamba jumped out of bed and went outside from his hotel room and jumped off from the balcony. Officially, his death was said to be due to multiple injuries being suffered after falling from height. But as per coroner, marijuana was a contributing factor.

As per the CDC, it is the first reported death in Colorado that can be linked with marijuana consumption, which was approved for recreational purpose.

The CDC said the case highlights about the potential dangers linked with the consumption of recreational edible marijuana use. “If you ingest a large quantity of edible marijuana in a short amount of time, you risk over-consumption, and in increased risk of mental health effects”, affirmed Jessica Hancock-Allen, an epidemic intelligence officer with the CDC.
