Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan
Sydney (dpa) - An Australian soldier was killed and four wounded in a
clash with Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan, the Defence Force
said Monday.
Australia has 1,000 soldiers serving in Oruzgan province.
"The engagement in which he died was characterized by a heavy
exchange of small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades," Defence
Force head Air Chief Marshall Angus Houston said. (dpa)
