Inzamam-ul-Haq and I shared a student-teacher relationship: Javed Miandad
Lahore, Oct 15 : Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has said that he shared a teacher-student relationship with Inzamam-ul Haq, who retired from Test cricket last week.
“We also had a student-teacher relationship,” Miandad said after Inzamam fell three short of breaking his record of highest Test aggregate for Pakistan.
“What matters is Inzamam’s show of respect for me and his extraordinary demeanour in this era when jealousy and disrespect prevail,” added Miandad, who played alongside Inzamam between 1991 and 1996.
“A player like Inzamam is only born in centuries and his performances were proof of that,” the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
“Given his service to Pakistan cricket and the quality player that he was, he deserved the record. I enjoyed watching him bat,” he added.
“I was expecting him to break my record. I would have been more than happy had he broken my record,” Miandad said. (ANI)
