Amazon launches new DynamoDB NoSQL database service
American online giant, Amazon has launched a new managed NoSQL database service called, DynamoDB aimed at allowing users manage databases easily.
The NoSQL aims to create a database for unstructured information which is uploaded on the internet every day in huge quantities. DynamoDB includes tools offering online access to several resources and is one of many Amazon Web Services (AWS).
“Amazon DynamoDB is the result of everything we’ve learned from building large-scale, non-relational databases for Amazon. com and building highly scalable and reliable cloud computing services at AWS,” Werner Vogels, the Amazon Web Services CTO, said in a blog post
Vogels also wrote that DynamoDB is designed for delivering high performance and to be a cost effective solution for the users. It can be used for managing from small internet-scale applications to large online programmes.
DynamoDB competes with traditional relational databases such as the Oracle database and the open source MySQL. It offers a more flexible way to manage data than other data base tools and can be used across a large number of machines.
Google, and Facebook besides Amazon have been using NoSQL databases to manage online operations. Last year, Oracle also introduced its own NoSQL database to compete with others while several open source projects have also emerged in the mean time.
