Cinnamon might keep off diabetes and heart disease
A recent study hints that cinnamon-water solution contains anti-oxidants that can cut down the chances of having any disease linked by up to 23 percent.
It was the report laid by the Centre for Applied Health Sciences researchers in Fairlawn, Ohio, US, where people did their tests upon a team of `pre-diabetic' obese people which states that pre-diabetes precedes full-blown diabetes, according to Daily Mail.
The report further sighted that half the participants were asked for 250 mg of water-soluble cinnamon to be consumed on a daily basis, while the other lot was asked to have a placebo.
It was observed that the patients suffering from the ailment developed resistance to higher-than-normal levels of insulin, the hormone responsible to regulate blood-sugar levels released by the pancreas.
Blood samples were taken at the beginning and end of the survey, released by the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, with cinnamon drinkers posting a 13 to 23 percent rise in antioxidants associated with lowering of blood-sugar levels.
Richard Anderson, the man behind the study for the US Department of Agriculture, stated that more research was required to bring out the effectiveness of cinnamon juice relating to prevention of diabetes and heart disease.
