Mother leaves 3-year-old in car for 8 hours to go for gamblingPolice has said that an Oregon mother allegedly left her 3-year-old son in her car for 8 hours while she gambled in a Washington casino.

The (Vancouver, Wash.) Columbian has reported that the woman, 32, of Clackamas, Ore., said she checked on the child every couple of hours Tuesday while she gambled in Chips Palace Casino in La Center, Wash. She said the boy was sleeping.

The woman, who La Center police said was intoxicated, said, "Why is this such a big deal?"

It has been reported that a security guard heard the child crying in the car and alerted police, who said the boy had wet his clothing. The child had a cup of milk that had gone sour.

Police contacted Child Protective Services officials, who took custody of the boy.

A jail official further said that the mother was no longer in custody Wednesday evening. (With Inputs from Agencies)
