Shashi Tharoor meets Janardan Dwivedi
Shashi Tharoor has been in many controversies over various comments he made online or in person since he was appointed as a minister by the congress party.
Mr Tharoor met Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi mainly to clarify his latest 'interlocutor' comment. He has invited Saudi Arabia to play the interlocutor in the India-Pakistan relations.
The minister has reportedly said in the capital that Saudi Arabia would be invited as a valuable interlocutor, however he later explained on twitter that interlocutor and mediator are different things.
India has always cleared it stand that it does not want a third party in dealing with the India-Pakistan relation.
Mr. Tharoor has conveyed to the party leadership that such comments will not be repeated. The opposition parties meanwhile have made an issue out of the comments while the Congress party is believed to have expressed its annoyance privately to the minister.
The significance of the visit of the Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia diminished in the wake of the controversy over the comments of the minister. Other members of delegation which was also on the visit, rebuked his comments.
Mr. Dwivedi said that the meeting with the minister was a scheduled meeting as the time of the meeting was fixed before the Saudi Arabia trip.
