Plight of homeless people worsens in DelhiDelhi, Dec 28 : As icy winds swept New Delhi, the homeless and the destitute of the city faced a tough time.

Poor people living on the pavement of Delhi are facing the hostile temperature by burning pieces of wood and utilizing ''humble'' blankets.

"It is extremely cold for the last 4-5 days. I am managing by burning pieces of wood. The weather has become hostile," said Sanjay Shukla, a resident.

Meanwhile, in Noida, a bus collided with a truck due to poor visibility.

Reportedly, around 40 people including children were injured in the accident.

"All of us were travelling in the bus that was overcrowded. Around 7-9 girls in the bus were seriously injured. Even 3-4 children standing in the front end of the bus suffered severe injuries," said Ram Kumar Yadav, an eyewitness.

Delhi has been witnessing cold and foggy mornings for over a week now. On Sunday, the temperatures were slightly higher than the season''s low on Saturday at 5.5-degree Celsius.

Most parts of northern India are experiencing chilly days as the mercury dipped amid foggy conditions. (ANI)
