Waziristan operation 80% successful, says MalikIslamabad, Dec. 17 : Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the military operation against the Taliban in South Wazirisan has been conducted with “over 80 percent success” and it would be over soon.

Speaking at a seminar on the ‘war on terror’, Malik said that the Pakistan government had pursued the policy of dialogue before launching the military operation, but the terrorists had violated all peace deals.

“That ultimately forced the government to initiate military operation for durable peace and development and the situation has comparatively improved,” The Daily Times quoted him, as saying.

He reiterated that the government won’t engage in talks with terrorists unless they abandon their arms.

“We will not accept any offers of dialogue unless the terrorists surrender their arms,” he said.

Malik appreciated the Pakistani media’s role in the war on terror, and said that the success in the on-going operation against the terrorists has been made possible due to positive and objective reporting by the media.

Malik also appreciated the role of the ulema for denouncing the suicide attacks and the so-called ‘jihad’ of the terrorists. (ANI)
