F1 champ Button may switch to McLaren if Brawn fails to make an offer

F1 champ Button may switch to McLaren if Brawn fails to make an offerLondon, Oct 24 : New Formula One champion Jenson Button may switch over to McLaren after his current bosses at Brawn GP failed to make an offer.

Button could switch to form a dream all-British partnership with Lewis Hamilton for the 2010 campaign.

Button is looking for a five million pound pay rise to return him to his old eight million pound-a-year salary, having taken a cut to help save the outfit.

Brawn GP boss Ross Brawn is yet to offer Button new terms. And Button’s manager Richard Goddard said: “Brawn could have sorted Jenson out weeks ago and none of this would be going on. We’ve been trying to agree terms with them.”

“He’s made it clear he wants to stay and, had they agreed a contract, there would be no speculation. People will speculate that anyone with a free seat next year will be offering Jenson a drive.

“That speculation won’t die until Brawn offer him new terms. He has displayed his great talent in a good car this year. A lot of quality seats may still be available so it’s down to Brawn to make us an offer,” The Sun quoted Goddard, as saying.

Toyota, one of the richest teams in F1, is also waiting on the sidelines if no deal is sorted by the time the season ends in Abu Dhabi. (ANI)
