Mumbai, Oct 22 : The BJP-Shiv Sena on Thursday expressed disappointment over the Assembly poll verdict and conceded defeat in Maharashtra.

Blaming the Raj Thackeray-led MNS for its defeat, BJP Vice President Gopinath Munde said: "We accept defeat. We lost in Mumbai. We lost miserably in western Maharashtra. We could not achieve our aim."

"The MNS appears set to win about 13 seats after garnering around 5-6 per cent votes. After all, these were our votes," he added.

Reacting to the verdict, Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi said: "We never expected these results. If it is a defeat, it has to be accepted by everybody."

The Congress-NCP combine has bagged eight seats and is leading in 128 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly.

The BJP-Shiv Sena combine got five seats and leading in 88. The MNS has got one and leading in 17. Others have got four and leading in 36. (ANI)
