In her compliant sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur alias Purnachetanandagiri, one of the prime accused in the September 29, 2008 Malegaon blast, said that her fellow inmate at the Byculla jail has beaten her cruelly.

On Tuesday, Ganesh Sovani, Sadhvi’s advocate has moved an application before the Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in quest of registering a private complaint.

Additional Sessions Judge M R Puranik has given permission to Sadhvi to register a complaint and accordingly directed her to file a complaint before Mazagaon metropolitan court.

While talking to media persons, Sovani said that Sadhvi was taken to the Sir JJ Hospital on March 26, and got discharged from there on April 15.

After that she was shifted to the Byculla jail.

On April 16, Mumtaz Shaikh, who has been seized under MPDA, mistreated her when she saw sadhvi in prison.

“She used expletives and bad language and threatened her,” he said.

On Monday, while the inmates were going for lunch, Mumtaz hit Sadhvi with a bowl and she continued hurts on her nose, neck and under the left eye.

The sadhvi complained to the prison officer regarding the whole incidents and on recurrence of a similar episode on Monday she made her mind to register a complaint against the Shaikh.
