Rabri Devi faces criminal contempt petition
Patna, Apr 6 : A petition was filed in the Patna High Court on Monday seeking criminal contempt proceedings against former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi for alleged derogatory remarks.
Senior advocate Ashutosh Ranjan Pandey filed the petition against Rabri Devi, for allegedly making insulting remarks against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Janata Dal- United (JD-U) chief Rajiv Ranjan at a poll rally in Saran on April 4.
Pandey, in his petition has charged Rabri Devi, wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, of scandalizing and lowering the authority of judiciary.
Pandey claimed that the petition is expected to come up for hearing in a day or two.
An FIR was lodged by the district administration against Rabri Devi at the Bheldi police station on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of the JD (U), the Election Commission is examining the video footage of Rabri Devi in which she is shown using alleged insulting remarks against Kumar and Lalan.
The JD(U) has urged the Election Commission to bar Rabri Devi from participating in election campaigns and also asked for a termination of her membership from the Bihar State Assembly. (ANI)
