BJP unveils election manifesto; promises ‘Ram Rajya’

BJP unveils election manifesto; promises ‘Ram Rajya’ With their eyes on the forthcoming 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the political parties intend leaving no stone unturned to play up their individual strategies to hook the voters!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which released its election manifesto on the occasion of Ram Navmi on Friday, pledged to work for the purpose of bringing in 'Ram Rajya' in the country. Unveiling the party manifesto, which included the Ram Temple issue, the BJP prime ministerial candidate, L. K. Advani, said: "Ram Rajya is possible."

The party promised that it would do its best "to explore all possibilities, including negotiations and judicial proceedings, to facilitate the construction of the temple at Ayodhya." In addition, terming Ram Sethu a "national heritage," the BJP also assured that it would look for an alternative arrangement for the planned Sethusamudram Channel Project.

According to BJP manifesto committee chairman, Murli Manohar Joshi, the party thoroughly considered the nearly 900 suggestions, which it had received, while framing the manifesto. Saying that BJP had released its singular manifesto after more than a decade, Joshi said that the official party document indicates its ideological concerns, which include - cow protection; realizing a uniform civil code; and abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution - concerning special status for J&K - without which the country's "full integration is not possible."
