Hertha banking on Voronin despite broken nose
Berlin - Bundesliga leaders Hertha Berlin hope Andrey Voronin will be in the team to face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday despite the striker being diagnosed with a broken nose.
Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness said Thursday Voronin broke his nose in Ukraine's 2-1 defeat to England in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday evening.
Voronin, who is on loan from Liverpool, suffered the injury when he was accidently struck by England captain John Terry's arm.
It is the second time the 29-year-old striker has broken his nose this season after a similar injury playing for Ukraine in October.
Hertha still have doubts on whether captain Arne Friedrich will be fit in time as they defend a one-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
A decision will be made on Friday on the defender, who is on his way back from a torn muscle fibre but may not be completely fit, coach Lucien Favre said. (dpa)
