Strauss rooting for Flower as England coach
Guyana (West Indies), Mar. 20 : England cricket captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower have formed a close partnership, and there are reports in the air that the former wants the latter to continue mentoring the team.
"A very close one," was how Strauss defined his relationship with Flower.
"Our views on the England cricket team and the ways forward are pretty similar. I think we have a pretty high respect for each other, which helps, and I think we''ve worked well. The way he''s reacted as stand-in coach has been exceptional," The Telegraph quoted him, as saying.
"It''s wrong for me to get involved in the selection of the coach as I don''t know about other coaches and their methods," Strauss added, diplomatically.
After appointing Peter Moores without interviewing any other candidates, the England and Wales Cricket Board has now gone to the opposite extreme of employing headhunters to find the right candidate. The headhunters will be tempted to recommend somebody other than the person who is already in charge. (ANI)
