Taipei  - Taiwan's stocks advanced 1.9 per cent Wednesday, bolstered by Wall Street's overnight rally and gains around Asia, dealers said.

The main Taiex index closed at 4,759.96, up 88.94 points.

All eight major stock sectors rose, with the petrochemical and plastic subindex soaring 5.1 per cent to become the day's biggest winner, followed by financial's at 4.2 per cent, and cement's at 2.7 per cent. (dpa)
